![]() ![]() Still, I just can't justify calling it "white supremacist" in my experience, let alone to the extent that one can conclude that anyone participating in it must themselves be white supremacist.Īnd frankly, I don't see "shitposting" as being some novel new invention, or even racist in character. And, when I tried pointing out that information that conspiracy theories were based on was just plain wrong and provably so, the reception was not warm, although maybe somewhat less hostile than some of the folks here. I certainly found that they were deliberately trying to flood /r/all, which I'd never paid any attention to before (or since). I found those reasons to be true of other political subs: I found the overall level of discussion to be echo chambery, group thinky and paranoid. I really can't say it was a place I'd fit in with. So I marched right into the lion's den, and lurked /r/the_donald for a while. But I only stick to my subs, which are really boring shit like /r/mildlyinteresting, /r/motorcycles and the subreddit for my town. Following the argument about Luckey the first time, I followed it for a while, because I read reddit every day and kept hearing about this evil place and all it was doing to supposedly flood reddit, but hadn't experienced any of it. This very debate piqued my curiosity about /r/the_donald. That said, I think you're practicing a form of guilt-by-association. Thank you for making the effort to look into it. That they stopped after one meme-based anti-Hillary billboard has in all probability little to do with the idea that that's the only thing they wanted to do, and more with their sugar daddy being called out for being a shitposting asshole. Given that the entire point of Nimble America was to take shitposting and meming to the real world, it's really not a stretch to conclude that the goal was to move the racist and xenophobic postings from 4chan and r/TheDonald to the real world. ![]() However, there's a direct line between Nimble America and actual racist, homophobic, xenophobic, and generally abhorrent shitposting that takes place in /pol and r/TheDonald. In other words, the only direct connection between Nimble America and shitposting is the billboard. Nimble Navigator is strongly associated with the kind of shitposting that takes place in r/TheDonald and on 4chan, where there's a significant group of people who call themselves Nimble Navigators. Nimble America has its roots in the Nimble Navigator meme. The actual organization Nimble America was officially behind only one communication: the Hillary Clinton billboard. I dug a while back into that cesspool as well. You don't even seem to realize how much damage you're doing to your own position, and I can't put into words how frustrating that is. It did do one of those things and it was wrong in doing so, but at this point you can't really take refuge in that because you've claimed so many utterly false things that it's utterly destroyed your credibility, especially when the subject at hand is honesty.ĮDIT: There's a really good argument to be made against that line of that article, but you've managed to make it impossible to push that argument by arguing in bad faith and effectively making things up until you found something that sticks. You've said that it claimed Luckey was a white supremacist, you've said that it claimed Nimble America funded white supremacists, you've said that it claimed Luckey himself produced white supremacist material, and you've claimed that it credited Nimble America with creating a torrent of white supremacist material. Click to expand.Except that agreeing on that isn't enough, because you've shifted your claims about what the article claims and what the lies in it are several times now.
